A racetrack is a man-made facility for the racing of animals, especially horses and greyhounds. Some of the biggest and best known racetracks in the world are Gulfstream Park, Ascot, Cheltenham, Goodwood, Flemington, Sandown & Belmont Park. The atmosphere that a racetrack gives off can be electric, and people have been known to visit a track just to experience the atmosphere and not be slightest bit interested in the sport that’s going on in front of their eyes.
Big grandstands and plenty of eateries are the best points of a racetrack, and with most National Hunt tracks in the UK having a hog roast tent, it’s well worth visiting just for that. Kids are welcome at most racetracks around the world, as they’re the future after all’s said and done, and so with the organisers bringing in clowns, bouncy castles and fairgrounds, kids just love going to the races too. Prices could do with coming down a little, but it’s not easy for the big racetracks to make ends meet and so it’s more than forgivable when they lay on so much entertainment.
UK racing has raised attendances at evening meetings by having well known bands playing a concert after racing, so again, it’s more that just horse racing at most tracks around the world. Most tracks let kids in for free, but even those that don’t still only charge a small amount for hours of fun. Most tracks worldwide do their bests to get children to go racing, as it’s them who they’ll be relying on when they get a bit older.
